§ 6-1. Billposter's license—Required; exceptions.

  • (a)

    No person shall post any bills or advertising matter or engage in the distribution of any advertising matter of any kind, without having obtained a license therefor from the city clerk and treasurer and without having paid to the city clerk and treasurer a license tax, in advance. Upon the payment of the license tax, the city clerk and treasurer shall issue the license so applied for, which license shall expire on December 31 of the year in which it is issued.

    (b)

    The provisions of this section shall not apply to any resident of this city who advertises his own goods, wares and merchandise by his regular employees. This section shall not be construed to extend to any resident of the city the right to advertise under his name the wares, goods and merchandise of any nonresident person or permit any nonresident person to so advertise under the name or through the aid of any resident person.
